Frisco Arts in the Square this weekend

“Autumn Gems” ©2012 Niki Gulley
36” x 60” textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

I wanted this painting to be about the power and energy in nature to invigorate your spirit, so I chose to use warm vivid colors and thick staccato strokes to add to that feeling. I placed the foliage in diagonal sweeping shapes to create a sense of movement, and so that you can feel the wind gently rustling the leaves and causing them to dance.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her textured oil paintings of aspen and birch trees.

This little painting is popping with color. It is a detour from my large pieces.....6" x 6" is very small compared to the large canvases that I usually use. It is a fun change, and I have several of these little pieces drying. They are great for gifts, and look wonderful on a small easel. Thanks for viewing, Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com

Aspen Oil Painting commission by Niki Gulley

“Autumn Splendor" ©2012 Niki Gulley
SOLD • 30" x 48" textured oil on canvas

This commissioned painting was based on an earlier painting that I'd created of this aspen forest, but my new collectors needed a larger, narrower painting to fit their space. They fell in love with the thick texture of the aspen bark and the vibrant color in the fall foliage that I recreated with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives. The completed painting shimmers with gentle autumn breezes and a quiet energy of change coming. Crisp fall mountain air, clean bright skies overhead, a band of slender straight trunks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling tumble of green, crimson and gold.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information on her textured aspen and birch oil paintings.

I wanted you to feel the joy and peacefulness of walking through an aspen forest on a beautiful summer day in Colorado. 48" x 36" textured oil on canvas

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. Choosing vibrant, cheerful yellows and reds contrasted against a cobalt blue sky and arranging the aspens in a circular pattern heightened by thick, curving paint strokes, all add to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery

Aspen Trees In Art by Jill Saur

"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."Edgar Degas

"Sequestered Dreams" is a big painting with a lot of imagination.  It's playful in an elegant way.
The eyes on the birch and aspen trees have a way of mesmerizing the viewer.  I love aspen and birch trees because they symbolize giving, strength, reaching for the light, and connection.

Celebrate Today by Kay Wyne

Celebrate Today
NFS
This original oil on cotton panel traveled to Chicago, Illinois yesterday.
Blake delivered it last night to Jim and Reggie.
It is dedicated to Jim Devers and is a colorful reminder to celebrate today.......especially with with a clean bill of health!!!! I had meant to send Jim a card or phone him, but failed to do that, so a small painting will have to do. This little 6" x 6" painting is on a iron easel.

Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur

"If you reveal your secrets to the wind, you should not blame the wind for revealing them to the trees."
- Khalil Gibran

My new 8"10".5" oil palette knife and brush painting, "Relinquished", is richly textured on the trees, revealing their "bone structure" against the value tones of winter. The title suggests that place in life where we relinquish ourselves and open up our hearts and minds to fresh inspiration and new possibilities.

I love aspens in winter. Their beautiful white trunks and dark branches mingle with the dark shadows cast upon the white snow, creating a profound beauty that is best experienced in silence.

This painting is available to purchase by contacting me through my website.  CLICK HERE

"Carnival" - New autumn aspen oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Carnival" ©2012 Niki Gulley
36" x 60" textured oil painting on wrap around canvas

Painted with extremely thick oil paint and palette knives so that this canvas is loaded with texture and bursting with color, flickering autumn leaves seem to almost dance in a gentle breeze. I wanted this scene to be filled with movement and energy, so I incorporated a lot of diagonal and curving shapes in the design to suggest that feeling. Combining short staccato strokes along with long sweeping passes with my palette knives, also increase that sense of motion. I hope you, too, can feel the excitement of walking through the woods on a beautiful fall day, letting your cares slip away and your spirit being invigorated.

Abstract #1081 by Kay Wyne

Abstract #1081
Original Contemporary Oil Painting
10" x 8" on Raymar Panel
This abstract aspen painting is the first of a series of smaller paintings. It was a challenge for me because I love using large brushes and big palette knives when I paint. I used a #8 Monarch and a # 24 knife on a small cotton panel. A real change-up for me. This painting will be framed once it is dry. Thanks for viewing...Kay at 214-532-0325 or kay@kwyne.com.

Trees In Art

Trees in art, my favorite subject to paint!  What's the allure?  Since the beginning of time, in fact since Genesis, trees have been and continue to be used to teach us great lessons in life.  In art, I've been inspired by Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh's renderings of trees.
However, the single painting that influenced my love for telling stories by rendering trees was one painting that I saw when I was a teenager.  In fact, I watched every stroke being applied as the soulful rendering of this one tree came to life.  The artist was my mother.  It was sort of a fantasy painting with a light that emanated deep inside the forest, where a little cabin rested comfortably in the woods.  It wasn't until years after my mother passed away that I heard my Uncle relate what he thought my mother was portraying in this painting.  It was the only time I ever saw my Uncle cry.
We move so quickly in this world.  I hope as a people we don't forget to slow down and stop to enjoy the beauty and the meaning in our every day lives!
These two 36"x48" acrylic paintings on canvas are both for sale.  Although they are two separate works of art, they are meant to go together.  Separate, they stand alone as a work of art, together, they complete one another!  Like my mothers tree, these trees emanate a lot of warm light.   www.JillSaurFineArt.com
