Aspen Tree Painting Giclee "Autumn Gold" by Jill Saur

I wrote about this painting a few weeks ago on my blog and a new patron in Hollywood, Fla. ordered a hand-embellished giclee of it.  I want to show some enlarged images of the thickly textured paint that I added to this piece.  It looks like a new original.  I had a lot of fun working on this.  Since the original is sold, I know that I will probably have to do this for myself one day because this is one of my favorite paintings.  This giclee of "Autumn Gold" is 30"x40".

To read about what a giclee is, or to order your own, please see my website:

Starting A New Life by Texas Artist Kay Wyne

Starting a New Life
48" x 72" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Palette Knife Painting
This is my first aspen painting....I originally painted it for my daughter and son in-law, Wes. They got married last September, and moved into a tiny apartment. Lindsay wanted something large with color...so I set out to do a contemporary abstract, and this evolved. It was the first of many contemporary aspen paintings. I thank you for looking at this blog and my art....and I thank Kimberly for allowing me to post my art with her art friends. I had technical difficulties for a while (operator error, probably)...but now I am on and will be posting some of my aspen paintings. Thanks! Kay p.s. Go Kimberly, Go!

Buy ART - Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur

This 48"x36" acrylic painting on a wide border canvas is elegant, stunning, and always draws compliments from those who see it.  I was inspired to paint this from viewing the aspens in Colorado in the early evening during Fall.  Those who know me, know how much I love aspen trees.  Once you have stood amongst a grove of white aspens, heard their quaking leaves, and felt the peaceful quiet of the forest, you will want to return often.

My aspen paintings give my patrons the opportunity to be reminded of this tree's majestic beauty.  This original painting can be purchased at the Frameworks Gallery, in Marietta, GA.
Their phone number is (770) 973-6701.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that inspires and uplifts your soul.

New Textured Aspen Tree Painting by Niki Gulley

“Autumn Splendor” ©2011 Niki Gulley
36” x 48” textured oil on wrap around canvas

Shimmering colors of autumn: Aspen trees quiver, their light graceful leaves tremble and quake, silver and gold, silver and gold with each light breeze.

There is the quiet energy of change coming and vibrant color charges the woods. Crisp fall mountain air, clean bright skies overhead, a band of slender straight trucks cut bright strokes of white against a dazzling tumble of green, crimson and gold.

"Notes a Flutter" New aspen tree oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Notes a Flutter” ©2011 Niki Gulley
24” x 18” traditional oil in Espresso Frame with Inner Gold Trim

Colorado’s celebrated quaking aspen trees stand arrow straight in the valleys and
up and down the hills.
Slim white trunks sing out against the forest background and each leaf provides
a sparkling symphony of notes whispering through the mountains.
Flames of yellow leaves flicker against autumn’s burning reds
and the deep, cool blue mountain streaked with early banks of snow.
This painting captures the breathtaking colors of
Colorado in the fall, the Aspens at their most beautiful, the peaceful snow-banked mountain, the rustling murmur and musical sigh of the fluttering leaves.

"Cascading Rhythms" textured oil painting by Niki Gulley

“Cascading Rhythms” ©2011 Niki Gulley
12” x 24” textured oil on canvas

Water pounds its way down the falls: cascading, rushing, charging into the riverbed -- flowing over rocks, swiftly moving forward. Untamed, the water finds its way over, under, around the boulder-strewn river. Tumbling waters drive up mists above the falls, the rhythmic sounds create a soothing harmony below. Autumn’s low light casts long lines through the Aspen trees and glowing verge.

"Vertical Aspirations" New textured aspen oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Vertical Aspirations” ©2011 Niki Gulley
48” x 36” textured oil on canvas

In this painting I wanted you to feel that child-like wonder of staring up in into the treetops and the heavens above. Choosing vibrant, cheerful yellows contrasted against a crystal blue sky and arranging the aspens in a circular pattern heightened by thick, curving paint strokes, both add to that joyful, playful feeling of hope and discovery.

To see Vertical Aspirations and more of Niki Gulley’s textured aspen and birch oil paintings, visit her booth, #120, at the Wells Street Art Show this weekend in downtown Chicago.

Santa Fe, New Mexico, inspired this acrylic painting on canvas.  I spent about two weeks there several years ago and just got lost in the trees (figuratively of course).  The aspen trees are interconnected by their roots and they actually support one another!  I call them "The Giving Trees". Aspen Tree Painting "Autumn Gold" by Jill Saur

© 2008 "Autumn Gold" by Jill Saur, all rights reserved

I was just reflecting back on this painting today, and was reminded of my time in Colorado amongst these wonderful trees.   My sister and I took a trip together to photograph the aspens.  Following a tip from one of the locals, we ventured into the mountains to one of the best kept secret places in the entire country to see these magnificent trees!  The aspen groves seemed to be ancient.  They were lined with the largest aspen trees I've ever seen in my entire life.

This painting was a result of my experience on that mountain.  This 30"x40" acrylic painting is sold but a giclee is available.  This painting is used as an example on my website to show the texture that I put on my giclee's.  I invite you to become a collector of my work.
