Aspen Artwork

My 18"x24" acrylic painting, "Winter Solstice", represents the transition between the seasons in our natural world and in our lives. The path challenges the viewer to see life as an exciting journey, even though we don't see what lies beyond.

Both the original and a limited edition hand-embellished giclee is available on my website. CLICK HERE.  I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that uplifts and inspires your soul! - Jill Saur

"Sun Drenched" textured sunflower oil painting by Niki Gulley

"Sun Drenched" ©2012 Niki Gulley
30" x 48" textured oil on canvas

Inspired by our trip to Provence last summer, I was awestruck by these massive fields of sunflowers blooming. Seeing this brilliant carpet of gold, with its sea of faces smiling towards the sun, just made me feel happy and I wanted you to experience that joy, too. In person "Sun Drenched" practically leaps off the canvas with its vibrant yellow petals and extremely thick three-dimensional oil paint.

Colorful Clouds by Kay Wyne

Colorful Clouds
36" x 18" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Original Palette Knife Painting on Heavy Duty Canvas
This medium-size canvas will look great in a room with a long and narrow vertical space. The deep vibrant colors are bouncing around....you can't tell where the clouds start and the landscape ends. The trees and leaves have thick strokes of paint...giving it a lot of texture. Please contact me if you are interested in one of my contemporary aspen paintings. Thanks for viewing this blog. Trees In Art

This 12"x12" palette knife acrylic painting on wide-bordered canvas is titled, "Joy".

This piece was inspired from a photograph that I took when I was in Taos, New Mexico. I came across a pocket of light that was brilliantly streaming through the woods and reflecting in the water before me. I decided to render this with thick paint, and a palette knife. If there's just a small amount of light in the room, this painting radiates a warm glow.

"Joy", is available on my website. I invite you to become a collector. My patrons always have time to "live with" my work to be sure they're happy with their purchase. I invite you to become a collector and experience the joy of owning artwork that uplifts and inspires your soul!

Aspen Art by Jill Saur

"Inspiration is not a sudden light from space but a compulsion born of sharpened observation and perception". - Bud Biggs, American Artist, 1906-1985

I don't paint what's popular, what other people paint, or even what I think I should paint. I paint what I'm "driven" to paint. The elements and principles of design, color theory, and technique are instruments in the symphony but they are not the conductor, I am.

Perhaps that's why I titled this 36"x48" acrylic painting, "Symphonic Twilight".
In the twilight hours, I was inspired by an aspen grove in New Mexico. There was just a hint of purple and I just ran with it!  If there is just a hint of light in the room, this painting just glows.

Last day for Two Woman Show, "Opposites Attract," at Jaycee Center for the Arts

"Fire and Gold" ©2012 Niki Gulley
oil on canvas • 36" x 48"

I love the first signs of fall – the crisp feel in the air, the crunching of leaves underfoot, the beautiful autumn colors, and being totally immersed in nature in the middle of a forest without a care in the world. In Fire and Gold I wanted to recreate that joyful feeling, choosing warm reds and yellows of autumn and using energetic strokes with my paint to heighten that mood. Building up thin transparent layers of oil paint also add to a certain glow and magic in the final piece.

To see "Fire and Gold" in person, stop by the Jaycee Center for the Arts in Irving, TX for this two woman show featuring the paintings of Niki Gulley and Elizabeth Padgett. Exhibit ends this Thursday, Feb. 23rd. 1975 Puritan Dr. between Story Rd. and MacArthur in Irving, TX.

E-mail Niki Gulley for more information.

Twisted by Kay Wyne

Twisted
24" x 20" Oil on Linen Gallery Wrap
Palette Knife Painting
Image looking up in the sky with the wind whipping around, trees blowing and a storm coming in. That is what I imagined when I painted this contemporary abstract. I blended the colors in the background, using wide brushes. The leaves and trees were laid in with thick layers so that there is texture on the linen. I purposely left some of the natural linen showing because I love that color. Contact Kay for more information on this painting......kay@kwyne.com or 214-532-0325. Thanks for looking.....

Aspen Tree Painting by Jill Saur

My 40"x30", acrylic aspen tree painting, "Autumn Gold", is all about the path we choose to follow in life. Aspens are amazing trees. I call them "The Giving Trees", because they are deeply connected to one another under the ground. They are even able to grow a new tree from the offshoot of one of their roots.  Although we are connected to other people in so many different ways, we all must choose the path that we are to personally follow.

This original painting is sold.  However, a beautiful hand-embellished giclee (limited edition) is available on my website.  I invite you to become one of my happy patrons!

Choosing calming greens against a lavender-blue peaceful sky and arranging the two main aspens so that they meet in the middle, suggests a feeling of togetherness. While organizing the outlying trees in a circular pattern and using thick, curving, bold orange brushstrokes, creates a joyful, playful mood.

Tree Art by Jill Saur

Each morning when I wake up, I look out my window and think about how different the day is from any other day that I've experienced.  It sets the framework for a mindset that is open to new possibilities and adventures.  The painting below is from a memory of a special day in Colorado.  I simply wanted to capture the nuance of that unique moment in time.

This little 8"x10" aspen tree oil painting, "Summer Nuance", is available at Matilda's Gallery in Historic Roswell, GA.  I have other similar paintings available on my website at www.JillSaurFineArt.com.
